Frequently asked questions

Although stainless steel does not easily rust, it is still a good idea to keep the pan dry and lubricated with either Phoenix Oil or FrogLube.

Do not store your handpan in a case, this gives moisture a chance to accumulate.

Clean off the dirt and grime on your handpan every once in a while using isopropyl alcohol.

It is best to avoid taking your handpan to the beach as salt can corrode it.

Lastly, avoid playing your handpan in the direct sun. Your handpan will quickly get very hot and detune. Usually the handpan will return to its original state once it cools down, but if the handpan gets too hot for too long it may require a retuning.

Yes. I typically tune ports to either a minor or major triad that matches the scale of the instrument. Instruments with an A2 note and lower do not have a tuned port. For these instruments, an insert is necessary (a side effect of this is that the insert dampens the sound of the port).

Of course! Feel free to contact me to set up an appointment. I am located in Mount Vernon, Washington.

I offer free retunes on Elysian handpans within a year of purchase (provided they are undamaged). After a year, I charge between 100-150 USD for a retune depending on how out of tune it is. The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs.

Unless you yourself are a handpan maker, I would highly, highly suggest not to attempt tuning your own instrument. It takes many hundreds of hours to learn how to successfully tune handpans. Attempting to do so without first knowing how can result in permanent damage to your instrument.

Depending on the extent of the damage done to the handpan, I might be able to fix it. If you’ve damaged your instrument, contact me directly with pictures and a video. Fixes will be priced accordingly to the extent of instrument damage.

All shipping fees, such as VAT and import fees for international shipments, are the responsibility of the buyer.

I accept returns for up to 2 weeks after purchase, providing that the instrument is undamaged. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.
